Ask: 1. Is this idea suited to your practice? 2. What size would give it enough room? 3. What would you simplify? 4. Can I see relevant healed examples, if available? The point is not to test the artist. It is to understand how their judgment changes the idea you brought in.

Understand the practical commitment

Ask: 5. What is included in the quote? 6. Could this require multiple sessions? 7. When will we discuss the design and any revisions? 8. What booking, deposit and cancellation terms apply? Prepare for the day after, too

Know what to keep out of a public form

The initial enquiry needs an idea, approximate placement and a way to respond. It does not need identification documents or a medical history. If a health issue could affect tattooing, discuss it privately with a healthcare professional and the artist through an appropriate intake process.
